Hello friends,

This is another new workshop in the Night Class series.

Brief.
I've come up with this workshop to empower aspiring photographers who would like to gain knowledge through photography assistance. If you're someone who'd like to expand your knowledge by being a photography assistant to another photographer, and learning from that experience, this workshop is for you.

Why sometimes, offering yourself for free assistance won't get you the job?
A lot of times, I've came across numerous offers from other individuals who would like to "tag-along" and be my photography assistant. Some of them even offered their service for free.

Let me tell you that it's not all about the money. Even if your service as an assistant free, if you don't have basic experience in photography assistance, chances are you won't be called in for the job.

Why?
  1. Being an assistant is not just simply carrying bags of gear. It's about knowing how to pack safely, and how to setup and wrap-up quickly and safely too.
  2. You need to know what to look out for when you're assisting.
  3. Do you know how to be pro-active and be able to anticipate the photographer's needs?
  4. Photographers don't have the time to teach you how to do these things on set. They'll be wasting their time if they have to teach you during the shoot.
  5. Photographers are looking for assistants that are quick, independent, reliable, good discipline and ethics. Are you any one of these and what does it take to be a dependable assistant?
Summary.
Upon completion of this workshop, you will have the confidence to assist another photographer which will give you opportunity to gain knowledge through observation from the assignment that you will be assisting. Other photographers will also be more confident in hiring you. We will also be able to be your contact reference to the photography assistant work you're applying.

Small Class.

  1. To ensure focused attention, I can only take 15 persons for this night class. You'll be tested, therefore we need to allocate time for this test.
  2. You will be tested individually to ensure that you understand what you've learned in this workshop.

Hello friends,

The Night Class series is back!

Night Class.
Ideal for working professionals, hobbyist, or part-time photographers with a day job. This class is an ideal opportunity to learn hands on basic studio lighting. It's 4-solid hours from 8.00pm till midnight 12.00am. You can come straight from work, and get back home in bed, ready for your next day. It's just a fraction of your time, and a lot to gain.

Basic Hands-on Studio Lighting.
Since it's night time, it only makes sense to learn something in a controlled environment. Let's all spend some solid 4-hours to gain something for our knowledge.

"Hands-on" means that you get to shoot, measure light, set the light and learn some basic studio etiquette. This basic experience would be valuable for you in terms of opening up some doors to assist other established photographers and learn from them. Established photographers are looking for assistants that are reliable, dependable, knows what to do, and how to work around a studio environment.

Basic Expectations.
Here are some things can expect to learn in 4-hours.

  1. What the is a light meter/flash meter?
  2. Light  meters are expensive. How can I measure light without a light meter?
  3. Where do I position my lights?
  4. I'm a newbie and I don't have four lights... How do I light with just one light?
  5. How do I get that glossy white floor finish?

Summary.
In short, when you walk out of our studio door, I want to make sure you walk away empowered with these skills, which are your basic survival skills in mastering studio lighting.
  1. You'll know how to measure light, and set exposure without a flash meter.
  2. You'll know basic studio etiquette, so that when you rent a studio, the studio owner's gonna keep you in his/her good books (which may get you some discounts, just maybe).
  3. You'll know how to light with one or more lights.
  4. You'll know how to manipulate simple light to create various background tones.
Small Class.

  1. To ensure focused attention, I can only take 10 persons for this night class.
  2. You'll NOT become Joe McNally overnight in 4-hours, but I can assure you that you'll feel less intimidated with studio lights
